The team represented the client in a copyright case. The client produced a multi-part film with the script based on real events, high-profile crimes in Kazakhstan. The author of a book about high-profile criminal cases filed a lawsuit against the screenwriters and media company of our client. The merits of the dispute concern protectable and non-protectable elements of the copyright item.

The team also represented the interests of a media company in a case involving protection of the rights to a serial film. The author of the book published a video on social networks and a Telegram channel advertising his meeting with readers. The video illegally used footage from the series.

We represent a client in a dispute over the protection of patent rights in Kazakhstan. As part of this project we:

• appealed the acts and actions of the state entity and the state body for issuing marketing authorizations in respect of the infringing medicinal product;
• assisted the client in a civil case to suppress the threat of infringement of the right against the holder of a marketing authorization for the infringing product;
• represent the client in a dispute regarding the revocation of its patent for a new dosage form of a medicinal product for the treatment of arthritis.

We represented the client in a dispute regarding the enforcement of rights to a Eurasian patent issued for a new substance for the treatment of cancer, as well as in a related dispute regarding the revocation of the said Eurasian patent. We successfully defended the validity of the patent, and the claim for revocation was dismissed in full. The claim for infringement of the right to the Eurasian patent was fully upheld.

We support our clients in the procedure for entering trademarks in the Customs Register of Intellectual Property Items. Our recent projects include a Kazakhstan distributor of plastic tableware.

Supporting three transactions for the client to purchase three Internet businesses: a service for purchasing tickets for land and air transport, a payment system, an online cash register service. We have audited the items of intellectual property and drafted documents for the registration of the rights to intellectual property items.
